creation-of-adam-cat-playmat-mtg-magic-mat
Creation of Adam Cat Playmat - MTG Magic Mat

An orange tabby stretches from a rocky ledge, one paw reaching out, on this Creation of Adam Cat MTG playmat. Across the gap, a bearded figure wrapped in a billowing cloak and surrounded by cherubs reaches back. Between paw and finger, a spark of warm light.

The famous fresco composition carries over perfectly to a wide mat: subject on the left, divine figure on the right, empty sky in between. On the table, blue and gold clouds give it a bright, airy feel. Your cards sit over the swirling sky while the two figures frame the play area.

The Art: A Fresco Retold in Watercolor

Michelangelo's ceiling gets a loose watercolor treatment here, with gold lines tracing the clouds and the rocky cliff. Blues bleed softly into warm yellow light. The cat is painted with care, striped fur and all, which is what makes the joke land. Art history fans will spot the details lifted straight from the original, from the cloak's shape to the cluster of angels. Everyone else just sees a cat about to receive the spark of life.

Creation of Adam Cat at the Table

Coming in at 24 x 14 in (60 x 35 cm), standard tournament size, the mat fits any event table. Sleeved cards slide over the micro-fiber surface and lift cleanly. The non-slip rubber base keeps it from shifting during shuffles. Dye-sublimation printing sets the colors deep in the fabric, so the soft blues and golds stay put without cracking or fading.

With Zones or Without Zones

The MTG playmat with zones version lays light guides for library, graveyard, exile and the command zone, with battlefield lanes for lands and creatures across the sky. It doubles as a commander playmat for EDH pods and works fine for 60-card formats. If you want the painting whole, go without zones and keep the gap between paw and finger clear.

A Gift for Art History Nerds and Cat Lovers

Cat tribal and white-weenie Commander players

Art history fans who enjoy a classic with a twist

Cat owners convinced their pet is divine

Players looking for a lighthearted mat with real painterly craft
