soot-sprite-medallion-round-rug-studio-ghibli-chair-mat
Soot Sprite Medallion Round Rug - Studio Ghibli Chair Mat

This Studio Ghibli round rug gathers a ring of soot sprites, each one hoisting a pastel star candy overhead, around a glowing heap of sweets at the very center. Everything is laid out for the circle: a cream field, a deep green border peppered with tiny wide-eyed faces, and ornament that radiates outward from the middle.

A circle changes how a room feels. It softens the corners of a square bedroom, sits neatly under a desk chair and gives a reading nook a clear heart. Here, that heart is a pile of candy guarded by dozens of fuzzy black dust bunnies.

The Design: A Soot Sprite Parade

The artwork borrows the look of an ornate carpet and fills it with boiler-room clutter. Teal cartouches hold lumps of coal, bundled logs tied with string, small red boots and wooden wheels, while curling green vines, red berries and puffs of cloud wind between them. These are the things soot sprites live around, drawn like heirloom motifs. The palette runs cream, forest green and teal, with candy pink, sky blue and butter yellow for the stars. If you love the little creatures from Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, this gives them a whole pattern of their own. Collectors who like to keep several designs together can look through the other Studio Ghibli rugs for more.

Soot Sprite on the Floor

The surface is a soft plush low pile that feels gentle underfoot. Underneath, a non-slip rubber backing grips hard floors such as wood, tile and laminate, so the circle stays where you put it. The print is dye-sublimation, which sets the colors into the fibers instead of sitting on top, so the greens stay deep and the candy pastels stay clear. It is machine washable: a gentle cold cycle and an air-dry keep it fresh after muddy socks and spilled snacks. Slide it under a desk chair and it works as a chair mat with a cushioned patch for your feet. Set it beside the bed and it becomes a bedroom rug with a story.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters are available, from 80 cm (31.5″) up to 180 cm (70.9″). The 80 and 100 cm sizes suit a spot under a desk chair or beside a bed, where the candy medallion shows between your feet. At 120 and 140 cm the ring of sprites fills a reading nook or a kids' corner. The 160 and 180 cm sizes anchor a seating area, and at that scale it reads as a true round area rug with the border framing the furniture. Smaller sizes also work as a quirky accent rug by a doorway or a window seat.

Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing for busy spots.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. Use a gentle cold cycle and air-dry it; the colors are set into the fibers, so the sprites keep their black fuzz and the candy keeps its pastel glow.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips wood, tile and laminate, so the circle stays flat while you walk across it or pull out your desk chair.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet, which helps in a bedroom with wall-to-wall flooring. The border keeps its crisp edge there too.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 80 or 100 cm for a desk or bedside, 120 or 140 cm for a nook, and 160 or 180 cm to center a seating area. With this much detail in the border, a bigger circle shows off more of the tiny faces.

A Soot Sprite Fan Statement

Ghibli fans who want the soot sprites somewhere they will spot them daily, such as beside a bed or under a desk.

Parents building a kids' reading nook who like a pattern with something to find; try counting the eyes along the border.

Anyone who loves ornate carpet patterns but wants something friendlier than plain florals, and who may enjoy browsing anime rugs for the next room.

A gift for a friend who grew up on the films; pair it with a Studio Ghibli mouse pad so the desk matches the floor.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0945/8830/5694/files/soot-sprite-medallion-round-rug-studio-ghibli-chair-mat-3.webp?v=1792776543
