r2-d2-projecting-round-rug-star-wars-chair-mat
R2-D2 Projecting Round Rug - Star Wars Chair Mat

R2-D2 sits at the heart of this Star Wars round rug, his dome tilted back as he projects a glowing blue Rebel hologram into a night sky of tiny gold stars. Everything around him is laid out for the circle: a navy medallion, a cream field of lobed panels, and a black and gold border that runs the full edge.

A circle softens a boxy room in a way a rectangle never does. This one slides under a desk chair without corners to catch, fills the gap beside a bed, or anchors the spot in front of a reading armchair.

The Design: Droid Meets Heirloom Carpet

The artwork borrows the look of an old Persian carpet and fills it with Rebel symbols instead of florals. Four X-wing starfighters cross deep blue cartouches at the diagonals, while twin desert suns glow over pale dunes in the panels between them. Blue hologram projectors and gold starbird emblems repeat around the field, and little gears nod to the droid's inner workings. The palette stays tight: ink navy, antique gold, parchment cream, and one small flash of red on the droid's panel. A weathered, slightly aged texture across the cream makes the whole piece look unearthed from a hidden base. Fans who like this carpet-meets-galaxy mix can browse more Star Wars round rugs in the same collection.

R2-D2 on the Floor

The cut is a true circle, and the surface is a soft plush low-pile that feels good under bare feet. A non-slip rubber backing grips hardwood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays put while a chair glides across the edge. The dye-sublimation print sets the colors into the fibers, which keeps the gold linework and deep navy crisp. When it needs a refresh, it is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dry. Under a desk it works as a chair mat with far more personality than a clear plastic sheet. As a gaming room rug, it gives a monitor setup a real focal point. Past 160 cm it becomes a round area rug for a seating area, and the smaller sizes make a handsome accent rug beside a bed.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters are available: 80 cm (31.5″), 100 cm (39.4″), 120 cm (47.2″), 140 cm (55.1″), 160 cm (63″) and 180 cm (70.9″). Choose 80 to 100 cm under a desk chair or beside a bed, where the droid stays in view. The 120 to 140 cm sizes suit a reading nook or a kid's corner, with enough width to show off the X-wing panels. At 160 to 180 cm, the medallion becomes the center of a seating area.

Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality, while Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. Use a gentle cold cycle and air-dry it, and the navy and gold stay put because the dye is set into the fibers.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips hardwood, tile and laminate, which matters under a desk chair that moves all day.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet. The border and medallion keep their shape, so the droid still reads clearly from across the room.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 80 to 100 cm for a desk or bedside, 120 to 140 cm for a nook, and 160 to 180 cm for a living room.
