shinji-listening-round-rug-evangelion-chair-mat
Shinji Listening Round Rug - Evangelion Chair Mat

Shinji stands at the middle of this Evangelion round rug, both hands wrapped around a cassette player while his earphone cords drift up through cream scrollwork. Around him the pattern turns like old Persian tilework, except the motifs are violins, tapes, music notes and four purple Unit-01 faces. Every ring is drawn for the circle, so nothing gets clipped at the edge.

A circle behaves differently from a rectangle on the floor. It softens the hard corners of a square room, tucks under a desk chair without fuss, and gives a bedside spot a calm center. This one has a quiet, listening mood, so it belongs where you actually sit still.

The Design: Tilework Meets Mixtape

The idea is a mixtape disguised as a palace ceiling. Shinji sits inside a scalloped medallion of dusty blue, with white earbuds looping down both sides and two small notes floating near his shoulders. Outside it, sage and violet vines climb across a cream field that looks gently aged, like a page pressed in a library book. Four Unit-01 heads sit in pointed arches at the compass points, with violins and cassette tapes filling the gaps between them. Clusters of burnt orange hexagons add the only warm accent. A navy border closes the circle, strung with more tapes, stars, lilies and notes. If you like this character-in-the-center layout, the rest of the Evangelion rugs goes in very different directions.

Shinji on the Floor

The rug is cut in a true circle, with a soft plush low-pile surface that feels gentle underfoot and keeps the fine linework crisp. A rubber backing grips hard floors, and the non-slip hold means the medallion stays centered where you set it. The print is dye-sublimation, so the colors are set into the fibers instead of sitting on top. Care is simple, because the rug is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dried. Under a desk it works as a chair mat with far more personality than clear plastic. As a bedroom rug it keeps the first step of the morning soft. Smaller sizes make a tidy accent rug beside a bed or a bookshelf. At 160 cm and up it becomes a round area rug that anchors a seating area.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters are available: 80 cm (31.5″), 100 cm (39.4″), 120 cm (47.2″), 140 cm (55.1″), 160 cm (63″) and 180 cm (70.9″). Choose 80 to 100 cm under a desk chair or beside a bed, 120 to 140 cm for a reading nook or a listening corner, and 160 to 180 cm as the center of a living area. Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality, while Premium Level has a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. Use a gentle cold cycle and air-dry it, and the cream field and navy border stay clean and sharp.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips tile, laminate and hardwood, so the circle stays where you put it.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet. That gives a bedroom or study a quiet pocket of pattern on top of the wall-to-wall.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 80 to 100 cm for a desk, 120 to 140 cm for a nook, and 160 to 180 cm when the medallion should anchor a room. The Shinji portrait reads best with a little bare floor showing around the border.

A Shinji Fan Statement

Evangelion fans who want Shinji's quieter side on the floor instead of the battle scenes.

Anyone building out a bedroom or study, who can browse the full anime rug range for companion designs.

Music lovers who like cassettes, violins and ornate patterns together in one piece.

Desk setups where you can pair the rug with a matching Evangelion mouse pad for a coordinated look.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0945/8830/5694/files/shinji-listening-round-rug-evangelion-chair-mat-3.webp?v=1792763926
