totoro-umbrella-round-rug-studio-ghibli-chair-mat
Totoro Umbrella Round Rug - Studio Ghibli Chair Mat

Totoro stands at the heart of this Studio Ghibli round rug, grinning wide beneath a broad green leaf that he holds like an umbrella. The artwork is laid out for the circle: a lobed forest-green medallion around him, a cream field of vines and blossoms, and a ring of acorns and oak leaves at the rim.

A circle behaves differently from a rectangle. It softens the corners of a square room, tucks under a desk chair without snagging on the legs, and gives a reading nook a clear center. Totoro stays in the middle of it all, whichever way you walk in.

The Design: Woodland Carpet Medallion

Most Ghibli art is loose and watery. This piece borrows the structure of a classic woven carpet instead. Small cartouches circle the central panel, and each one holds a piece of the rainy-day story: a black umbrella at the top and bottom, leaf umbrellas, corn cobs, spinning tops, dandelion puffs. Tiny blue raindrops and soft blue clouds drift in the gaps between them.

The palette is calm and woody. Deep moss green carries the medallion and the outer border, warm cream fills the field, and thin gold outlines trace every curve. Totoro's gray fur and pale belly with its chevron marks stand out clearly against all that green. If you like the idea of a whole floor of this world, other Studio Ghibli rugs are gathered in their own collection.

Totoro on the Floor

The surface is a soft plush, low-pile weave that feels gentle underfoot and keeps the artwork looking flat and clean. A non-slip rubber backing grips wood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays put when kids tumble across it. It is machine washable too, which matters with a rug this light in color: a gentle cold cycle and air-drying are all it needs.

The print is dye-sublimation, so the colors are set into the fibers rather than sitting on top. Cream stays cream. Gold lines stay crisp. As a bedroom rug it lands nicely beside the bed, and in the larger sizes it works as a round area rug under a small table or in front of an armchair.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters are available, from 80 cm (31.5″) to 180 cm (70.9″). The 80 and 100 cm sizes suit the space under a desk chair or beside a bed, and at that scale the rug doubles as a chair mat for a gaming or study corner. Choose 120 or 140 cm for a reading nook or a kids' corner, where Totoro can be seen in full. The 160 and 180 cm sizes become the center of a seating area, with the border ring framing the furniture.

Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality for busy rooms. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing for spots that see heavy use.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. Use a gentle cold cycle and air-dry it flat, and the green medallion keeps its depth.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips hard floors, so Totoro stays centered even when little feet run across him.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet. The round cut and the border keep the design readable on top of it.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 100 cm for a desk or bedside, 140 cm for a reading nook, and 160 to 180 cm if you want the full medallion to anchor a room.

A Woodland Room Statement

Fans of the rainy bus stop scene, who will spot the leaf umbrella straight away.

Parents setting up a kids' reading corner, where the acorns and dandelions give small eyes plenty to find.

Collectors who already browse the wider anime range and want something calmer than the usual action art.

Desk setups that need a soft landing for the chair, paired with a matching Ghibli mouse pad for the same woodland look.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0945/8830/5694/files/totoro-umbrella-round-rug-studio-ghibli-chair-mat-3.webp?v=1792778703
