Blue armor among orchids is not how the NT-1 usually appears, and that is exactly why this Alex Gundam Card Game playmat works. The suit stands mid-burst, arm gatling flaring a cold beam into a spiral of ink and gold leaf, while glowing rune script crawls across its white plating. A lotus opens in the lower corner. Petals drift where shell casings should be.
Across a table the mat reads calm at arm's length and dense up close. Cool blues and soft paper whites keep card faces easy to track, and the gold veining pulls the eye toward the center of the art without ever crowding your board.
The Art: Orchids Over the Colony
Watercolor washes do the heavy lifting here, layered wet-on-wet so the sky bleeds from ink navy into pale mist. Gold leaf threads through the swirls like kintsugi seams. The Alex itself keeps its signature details, red triangle shoulder markings, the forearm-mounted gatling, the broad gold V-fin, while luminous blue script gives the whole machine a haunted, Newtype-touched edge. A faint colony skyline sits in the wash behind the flowers, easy to miss on the first look and hard to unsee after.
NT-1 Alex at the Table
The mat measures 24 x 14 in (60 x 35 cm), standard tournament size, so it drops straight into event play. A micro-fiber top lets sleeved cards slide and lift cleanly, no snagging mid-shuffle. Underneath, a non-slip rubber base keeps the surface locked while you tap units and swing through the battle area. Colors are set by dye-sublimation directly into the fabric, so the orchid blues will not crack or fade with regular play.
