Frequently Asked Questions
Our round rug collection offers versatile diameter options:
| Size | Diameter (ft) | Diameter (cm) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 3' | 90 cm | Accent, small spaces |
| Medium | 4' | 120 cm | Entryway, reading nook |
| Medium | 5' | 150 cm | Small seating area |
| Large | 6' | 180 cm | Round dining tables |
| Large | 8' | 240 cm | Living room, large dining |
Round rugs work best: under round or oval dining tables, in square rooms to soften angular lines, in small spaces where rectangular rugs feel cramped, beneath round light fixtures, to create visual interest in standard rooms, and in entryways and foyers. They break up the box-like feel of most rooms.
Add 4 feet to your table diameter—this ensures chairs remain on the rug when pulled out. A 4' round table needs an 8' round rug. A 3' bistro table works with a 6' rug. Always err toward larger for dining comfort.
Center the rug under the room's focal point—usually a dining table, chandelier, or main seating arrangement—not necessarily the geometric center of the room. Use painter's tape to mark the diameter before purchasing. Equal distance from walls looks intentional.
Absolutely! Round rugs in rectangular rooms create visual interest by contrasting with angular lines. They soften the space and can make it feel less boxy. Place the round rug to anchor a specific zone—conversation area, reading nook, or dining space.
Round rugs are excellent for small spaces! Their lack of corners means they don't bump into walls or furniture edges. They visually expand small areas by drawing the eye in circular patterns. A 4' or 5' round rug can define a small seating area without overwhelming a compact room.
Round Rugs
Round rugs do something a rectangle cannot: they soften a room. Most homes are a collection of straight lines, from walls and doorways to sofas, beds and bookshelves, and a circle on the floor breaks that grid in the gentlest possible way. A round rug can ground a small table, turn an empty corner into a reading spot, give a nursery a soft center or sit under a desk chair as a round chair mat, all without taking over the room.
This page is a practical guide to choosing and placing a round rug, and a map of the collection itself. It covers where the shape works best, which of our six sizes fits which spot, the themes you will find here and what to know about quality levels, backing and care. The collection now holds more than a thousand designs, from anime and gaming art to mandalas, florals and vintage-style medallions, and most of them are composed for the circle rather than cropped from a rectangle. Every circle rug is made to order in your choice of Standart Level or Premium Level and finished with a non-slip rubber backing.
Why Choose a Round Rug?
A circle has no corners and no direction, so it pulls a space together instead of dividing it. That makes round rugs useful in a few situations where rectangular rugs struggle.
- They soften hard architecture. In a room full of right angles, one curved shape relaxes the whole look.
- They help small rooms feel larger. Because a circle leaves the corners of the room open, more floor stays visible, and the eye reads the space as bigger than it is.
- They define zones in open spaces. A round rug marks out a reading chair, a breakfast table or a play corner as its own place, without the visual weight of a large rectangle.
- They improve flow. With no corners to clip, a round rug is easier to walk around in tight spots such as entryways, hallways that widen into a landing and the gap between furniture.
- They match the way chairs move. A swivel chair turns in a circle, so a round rug under it simply makes sense.
Sizes at a Glance
Every round rug in this collection comes in six diameters. These are the only sizes we make, so it helps to know where each one fits before you start browsing.
- 80 cm (31.5″): the compact option. Use it as a round chair mat under a desk or gaming chair that does not roll far, as a bedside accent or as a soft spot in front of a dresser.
- 100 cm (39.4″): a comfortable chair-mat size that gives a rolling chair room to swivel and push back. It also suits a small reading nook or the floor beside a bed.
- 120 cm (47.2″): a flexible middle size for a reading corner, a nursery play spot or a compact entryway, and a roomy choice under a desk chair with a long roll range.
- 140 cm (55.1″): large enough to frame an armchair and side table together, ground a small round coffee table or center a medium entryway.
- 160 cm (63″): a statement size for foyers, kids' play areas and seating groups, and a good match for a small bistro table with two chairs.
- 180 cm (70.9″): our largest round area rug. It works under a round café or bistro table, in a larger entryway, in the middle of a seating area or as a big play zone. Nothing bigger is available in this collection.
Where a Round Rug Works Best
A round rug is not the answer for every room, but in the right spot it looks better than any other shape. These are the places where the circle earns its keep.
Under a Small Round Table
A round table on a round rug looks balanced from every side, and the rug quiets chair noise on a hard floor. The catch is size. Under any table, the rug has to be large enough that the chairs stay on it when someone pulls back to stand up; if the back legs drop off the edge, the chair wobbles and catches the rug. Our 160 cm and 180 cm sizes are the right match for a small bistro table, a round café table for two or a cozy breakfast nook. A full family dining table that seats four to six people usually needs a bigger rug than we make, and we would rather say so up front. The measuring section below shows how to check your own table.
Entryways and Foyers
Many entryways are close to square, which makes them a natural fit for a circle. A round rug in the center of a foyer, especially under a pendant light or beside a console table, gives the space a welcoming focal point and stops it from feeling like a pass-through. Leave clearance for the front door to swing past the rug, and pick a busier pattern to hide everyday wear between washes.
Reading Nooks and Empty Corners
Put a round rug in an unused corner with an armchair, a small side table and a floor lamp, and it becomes the coziest seat in the house. The curve of the rug softens the sharp angle of the walls and makes the corner feel enclosed, like its own small room. For this kind of setup the rug should be large enough for the chair and the side table to sit fully on it, so the whole group reads as one piece; 120 cm to 140 cm usually does it.
Nurseries and Playrooms
Round rugs are a favorite in kids' rooms. The shape feels friendly, there are no corners for small feet to catch, and a circle makes a natural spot for story time. For a nursery, the Premium Level is worth a look, because its thicker, plusher pile is more comfortable for babies and for parents sitting on the floor. The non-slip rubber backing helps the rug stay put when a toddler runs across it.
Under a Desk or Gaming Chair
A desk chair swivels and rolls in every direction, and a round rug matches that movement. Used as a round chair mat, an 80 cm or 100 cm rug keeps the wheels on a soft surface whether you turn left, right or roll back, and it quiets the rumble of casters on hardwood, laminate or tile. Because the surface is low-pile, wheels still move easily, and the rug also lies flat over low-pile carpet if your office is carpeted. If you roll back a long way from the desk, step up to 120 cm.
Bedrooms and Living Rooms
In a bedroom, a round rug works best as an accent: beside the bed, in front of a dresser or under a reading chair by the window. In a living room, it can sit under a round coffee table or be layered over a larger neutral rug to add color and a softer shape.
How to Measure for a Round Rug
Measuring is what separates a round rug that looks designed from one that looks dropped in. Center it on a clear anchor, such as a table, a light fixture or a chair, follow a few simple rules and then compare your numbers with the six diameters above. If your ideal rug turns out to be wider than 180 cm (70.9″), it is beyond our range, and a different spot for the round rug may be the better plan.
Tables and Chairs
The usual advice for dining sets is to leave about 60 cm (24 in) of rug on every side of the table so chairs can be pulled out without falling off the edge. Run that rule backward from our largest size and it is clear why we recommend round rugs mainly for small tables: a 180 cm rug comfortably holds a petite bistro or café table with two chairs that are usually tucked in. If the table seats more than two or three people, the rug would need to be bigger than anything we make.
Seating Groups and Coffee Tables
Under a coffee table, the rug should extend beyond the table so that the front legs of the surrounding chairs or sofa can rest on it, or at least come close to the edge. If the rug only sits under the table and nothing touches it, the arrangement can look disconnected. For a single armchair, aim for a rug that leaves visible rug around the chair on all sides, roughly 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 in), so the chair looks framed rather than squeezed.
Desk and Gaming Chairs
Sit in your chair at your normal working position, then roll back as far as you usually do when you stand up. Mark the outermost point the wheels reach in each direction and measure across. That number is the smallest round chair mat that will keep the casters on the rug. For most desks it lands at 80 cm or 100 cm; for a wide gaming setup where you push back from a big monitor, 120 cm gives you margin.
Clearance From Walls and Doors
Leave 45 to 60 cm (18 to 24 in) of bare floor between the edge of the rug and the walls in most rooms. In a small room, a little less is fine, but a round rug that touches a wall loses the floating look that makes the shape work. In an entryway, check that the door clears the rug, and in a hallway or kitchen keep a clear walking path past the edge.
Try It Before You Buy
The easiest way to judge size is to mock it up. Tie a string to a pencil, cut it to half the diameter you are considering, hold the free end at the center point and trace the circle on cardboard, or mark the outline with painter's tape. Live with it for a day and you will know whether to go larger or smaller.
Shop Round Rugs by Theme
Most of the designs on this page are fandom art and decorative patterns laid out as ornate medallions, with the main character or motif in the center and a border that follows the edge. That layout is what makes them read as true round rugs rather than rectangles with the corners trimmed off. Here is how the collection breaks down.
Anime and Manga
This is the largest group in the collection. You will find designs inspired by Pokémon, One Piece, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Studio Ghibli, Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball, many of them built around a character portrait framed by a ring of symbols, clan crests or scenery. A circle suits this art well, because the eye goes straight to the hero in the middle. If you would like more of this art beyond the circle, browse our full range of anime rugs.
Gaming
Gaming designs cover Zelda, Elden Ring, Minecraft, Sonic, Halo, Warhammer 40K and World of Warcraft, often with emblems, maps or runic borders that echo the menus and badges players know. This is also where the round chair mat idea shines: an 80 cm to 100 cm round rug under a gaming or desk chair gives the wheels a soft, quiet surface, adds color to the floor and turns a plain desk into a themed corner. For bigger setups and more layouts, see our gaming rugs.
Cartoons, Movies and TV
For something more playful, the cartoon designs bring in The Simpsons, SpongeBob and Rick and Morty, which work well in a teen's room, a dorm or a lighthearted living room. Our wider selection of cartoon rugs has even more characters. Film and TV fans will find Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Marvel and classic horror films, often arranged like a movie poster wrapped into a circle; the full range lives under our movie rugs.
Streetwear and Hypebeast
Bold graphic prints, graffiti lettering and sneaker-culture artwork make a strong statement on a round rug in a bedroom or a styled shelf corner. If that is your look, our hypebeast rugs bring together more of these designs.
Decor: Mandala, Floral, Vintage and Fine Art
Not every round rug needs a character. The decor side of the collection includes mandalas, florals, Persian-style vintage medallions, boho patterns, celestial suns and moons, Japanese-inspired motifs and pieces inspired by fine art such as Starry Night and The Great Wave. These designs fit living rooms, bedrooms and entryways where you want warmth without a theme. Bright, friendly kids and nursery designs sit here too, and you can find more of them among our kids and nursery rugs. For color fields, brushstrokes and clean geometry, explore our abstract and modern rugs.
And if you decide a rectangle suits your room after all, our full range of area rugs gathers more shapes in one place.
Choosing a Design for a Circle
A circle frames whatever is printed on it, so the design matters more than on a rectangle. Patterns that grow out from a center point, such as mandalas, rosettes, star maps and character crests, fit the shape perfectly and draw the eye to the middle. Borders, wreaths and rings that follow the edge make the rug look finished from every side of the room.
For color, pull one shade from something already in the room, like a cushion, a painting or a chair, and choose a rug that repeats it. A light round rug brightens a dark floor, while a darker or more patterned one hides daily wear in busy spots such as entryways and the area under a desk chair.
What to Look for When Buying a Round Rug
A round rug has a long, continuous edge and no corners to weigh it down, so construction matters.
Two Quality Levels
Every design in this collection is offered in two quality levels, and the right one depends on the room:
- Standart Level: solid everyday quality with a soft plush low-pile surface and a non-slip rubber backing. As the slimmer of the two, it is the practical pick under a rolling desk chair and in busy entryways.
- Premium Level: a thicker, plusher pile with a more durable backing. It feels softer underfoot and suits bedrooms, living rooms, reading corners, nurseries and play areas where people sit on the floor.
Backing and Floors
On a circle, a rug that slides is easy to notice and easy to trip over. Every round rug has a non-slip rubber backing that helps it stay in place on hard floors, and it lies flat over low-pile carpet as well, so you can layer it in a carpeted bedroom or office.
Print Quality
Each design is printed with dye-sublimation, a process in which the color becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting on top as a separate layer. That is how fine details, gradients and line art stay crisp across the whole circle. Because every rug is made to order, the design you see is printed for you in the size and quality level you choose.
How to Care for a Round Rug
- Vacuum on a low setting, or shake the rug out for quick cleaning.
- Blot spills right away with a damp cloth; do not rub.
- When it needs a full clean, machine wash on a gentle cold cycle.
- Skip the dryer and let the rug air-dry, laid flat if you can.
- Turn the rug a quarter turn every few weeks so wear and light stay even, which is especially easy with a round rug.
Made to Order and Shipped Folded
Every rug is made to order, so the design, the diameter and the quality level are produced for your order rather than pulled from a warehouse shelf. To travel safely, rugs ship folded. You may see creases when you first unpack it; lay the rug flat and they relax after a few days.
Round Rug FAQ
What sizes do your round rugs come in?
Six diameters: 80 cm (31.5″), 100 cm (39.4″), 120 cm (47.2″), 140 cm (55.1″), 160 cm (63″) and 180 cm (70.9″). The 180 cm size is the largest we make.
Can I use a round rug under a dining table?
Under a small round bistro or café table, yes: choose 160 cm or 180 cm. A larger dining table that seats four to six people needs a bigger rug than our range offers, so we suggest using our round rugs elsewhere in that room.
Is a round rug good as a chair mat?
Yes. A round chair mat matches the way a chair swivels and rolls. Choose 80 cm or 100 cm for a typical desk, 120 cm if you roll back a long way, and consider the Standart Level for easy rolling.
What is the difference between Standart Level and Premium Level?
Standart Level is solid everyday quality. Premium Level has a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing. Both have a soft low-pile surface, a non-slip rubber backing and the same dye-sublimation print.
Can I wash a round rug?
Yes. Machine wash on a gentle cold cycle and let it air-dry. For small spills, blot with a damp cloth.
Why does my rug have creases?
Rugs ship folded. Lay the rug flat after unpacking and the creases relax after a few days.
