A steaming cup sits at the heart of this Tokyo Ghoul round rug, its vapor curling into a heart above a saucer of roasted beans. Grinders, copper kettles, white rabbit masks, an eyepatch and pale spider lilies repeat in mirrored pairs, and the whole artwork is laid out for the circle so every motif radiates from that center cup.
Round shapes behave differently from rectangles. They soften the hard corners of a desk nook, settle under a chair without fighting the furniture, and give a reading corner a clear middle. The rings of pattern here make that obvious, because your eye travels outward from the cup to a border of tiny teacups.
The Design: Ornate Cafe Browns
This piece reads like an old ornamental carpet that someone filled with coffee-shop memories. The palette stays in espresso, roasted chestnut, cream and antique gold, with a yellow crescent moon at the top and bottom as the only bright spark.
