April O'Neil stands at the center of this TMNT round rug, microphone raised, camcorder on her shoulder, wearing the bright yellow jumpsuit fans remember from the Saturday-morning cartoon. Everything around her is laid out for the circle: a pale blue medallion, a deep blue field and a saffron-gold border that closes the ring like a frame.
A round shape does something a rectangle cannot. It softens a square room, pulls the eye toward the middle and gives a favorite reporter a spot to stand. Slide it under a desk and it works as a chair mat that looks like part of the decor instead of an afterthought.
The Design: Carpet Meets Newsroom
The layout borrows the language of a classic Persian carpet, with scrolling gold vines, pointed medallion edges and a beaded outer rim. Then it fills those vines with April's world. Skyline silhouettes sit at four points of the blue field, each flanked by pizza slices, while gray manhole covers mark the compass directions and round brown turtle shells nestle in the scrollwork. That is the New York of the cartoon, worked into ornament. The rest of our cartoon rugs keep the same playful spirit.
Her tools repeat around the ring. News vans with satellite dishes, camcorders, handheld microphones and little notepads circle the rug in matched pairs, so it reads as symmetrical from any side. Four bandanas in blue, red, purple and orange tie off the corners of the center medallion, a quiet nod to the turtles who never appear in person.
