Coral poppies and blue iris radiate from a central rosette on this Art Nouveau mahjong mat, wrapped in whiplash gold vines and strands of pale pink pearl beading. Sage, terracotta and soft blue fill the panels between. A stained-glass style border of florals and gold linework frames the whole belle-epoque design.
On a set table it reads elegant and turn-of-the-century. The muted jewel tones set off ivory tiles without shouting, and the symmetrical bloom gives every seat a matching view. Art Nouveau fans recognize the Mucha-era style at once.
