Chihiro stands at the center of this Studio Ghibli round rug, holding an onigiri rice ball in both hands while hydrangeas, glowing lanterns and paper cranes climb the vines around her. The artwork is laid out for the circle from edge to edge, with a crimson medallion field inside a deep green border where four No-Face masks mark the compass points.
A round shape suits a picture like this, because your eye travels around it the way it would around a storybook page. Beside a bed it softens the hard corners of a square room. Under a desk, the border frames your feet. Small change, big mood.
The Design: A Spirit World Carpet
Instead of placing Chihiro on a plain backdrop, the artist wove her into an ornamental carpet pattern, with golden scrollwork growing from the border into the central field. She wears her pink-red work clothes with the sash tied at the waist and a purple hair tie, and she looks calm, almost shy, as she holds the rice ball that carries so much of the story's warmth.
The palette is oxblood red, forest green and warm gold, cooled by clusters of hydrangea blue and the pale cream of the masks. Around the outer ring you find old coins, paper charms, onigiri in scalloped frames and orange lanterns. Nearly every motif nods to the film, so fans keep spotting something new. Choose 120 or 140 cm for a reading nook or a kids' corner, where the ring of masks and lanterns has room to breathe. Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality for daily use. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing for high-traffic rooms.
