Product Description

Four seasons meet on one square in this bird-and-flower chinoiserie mahjong mat, each quarter its own little painting: a swallow over spring plum, a kingfisher above summer lotus, a magpie on snowy winter branches, and a quail among autumn chrysanthemums. A blue-and-white porcelain roundel pins the center where the four scenes join.

The layout does something clever on a set table. Racks land inside the open quarters, so the birds frame each player's spot rather than hide under the tiles. Guests pick their favorite season before the first wall goes up.

The Art: A Painted Aviary

Each panel is worked in fine gongbi-style detail, feathers and petals picked out against a warm cream ground, with a gold cloud-scroll border tying the seasons together.
