Greninja drops into a low crouch at the center of this Pokemon round rug, one arm flung wide while a spiral of water whirls around him and a pale water shuriken hovers behind his head. The artwork is laid out for the circle: a navy scalloped medallion in the middle, a cream band of lily pads and droplets around it, and a teal border of four-point stars and curling waves at the edge.
A circle behaves differently from a rectangle on the floor. It softens the hard corners of a square room and gives a desk chair somewhere to slide without catching an edge. Under a gaming chair it works as a chair mat with far more personality than clear plastic. Beside a bed, it simply marks out a small stage for the character.
The Design: Water Ninja Medallion
This piece reads like an illuminated tile panel that happens to hold a Pokemon. Deep navy and teal carry most of the surface, cream fills the middle band, and thin antique-gold linework traces every scallop. Silver crescent moons sit at the four compass points of the medallion.
