Ho-Oh spreads its wings wide at the center of this Pokemon round rug, a red, gold and green phoenix rising in front of a pale rainbow and a sun-bright halo. The whole piece is laid out for the circle: rings of flame scrollwork, maple-leaf panels and bell towers orbit the bird like a temple medallion, so nothing feels cropped.
A circle changes how a room reads. It softens the hard corners of a square space, settles under a desk chair and fills the gap beside a bed without fighting the furniture lines. Under a desk it works as a chair mat that keeps the wings and tail on show around the wheels.
The Design: Rainbow Phoenix Medallion
Most Pokemon art is clean and digital. This piece goes the other way, with a painted, aged-paper look: a warm crimson ground, a deep teal outer border and thin gold line work tracing every curl of flame.
