Kiki grins over the rooftops on her broom, Jiji tucked in behind her, in this Studio Ghibli round rug where the whole scene is laid out for the circle. A cobalt field of scrolling flowers holds her at the center, and a deep green border of brooms, bows and clock towers closes the edge.
A circle behaves differently from a rectangle. It softens the corners of a square room, settles under a desk chair without fuss and gives a reading nook a clear middle. Because the artwork is a medallion, it looks right from every side of the room.
The Design: Ornate Border, Small Treasures
Think of an old carpet pattern that someone filled with a bakery delivery route. Kiki wears her navy dress, big red bow and red shoes, caught mid-flight with a wide smile. Around her, mirrored pairs of radios, bread loaves, lattice pies, wrapped gift boxes and white doves drift between gold stars and cream-and-red blossoms.
