Messmer the Impaler looks down at you from under a serpent-crested helm, golden eyes narrowed, while one hand holds up a ball of red fire on this Messmer MTG playmat. Red hair spills over his chainmail. It's an uncomfortably close portrait.
Crimson and rust swallow nearly everything, broken only by gold lines tracing the edges of his hand, helm and cloak. Because the flame sits on the left and his face in the center, the right side stays dark and quiet. That's where your board can breathe.
The Art: Kintsugi Flame Portrait
Watercolor handles skin and fire with soft, glowing gradients, while the chainmail is drawn link by link in fine detail. The coiled snake on his helm is painted with real menace, red eyes and all.
