No Face stands at the center of this Studio Ghibli round rug, pale mask calm, black robe falling to the floor, both hands cupping a small heap of gold. The artwork is laid out for the circle: a red carpet medallion holds him, and rings of tea cups, bathhouse roofs and hydrangeas repeat outward to a green border of tiny masks.
A circle behaves differently on a floor than a rectangle does. It softens the corners of a square room, gives a desk chair a clear place to turn, and sits comfortably beside a bed where bare feet land first. Because the pattern is symmetrical, the scene looks right from whichever side you approach.
The Design: Carpet Meets Bathhouse
The whole piece borrows the logic of an old Persian carpet and fills it with Spirited Away. The red center is packed with paper lanterns, tiny white paper birds, blue hydrangea clusters and scattered gold nuggets, all wrapped in curling vines. Out in the cream field, quatrefoil panels carry the bathhouse with its tiered red roofs, steaming tea cups, oval wooden tokens and drifting blue clouds, while more masks peek from the green panels at the top and bottom. The palette is crimson, forest green, parchment cream and slate blue, with gold tracing every edge. It reads warm and a little theatrical, closer to an heirloom than a poster.
