This Dandadan round rug puts a bespectacled student in a black gakuran at dead center, holding an open book with a ringed planet on its cover. The artwork is laid out for the circle: ghosts drift upward through lilac scrolls, UFOs beam lime-green light down both sides, and a dark purple border of tiny ghosts and saucers closes the edge.
A circle changes how a floor reads. It softens the corners of a square room, tucks under a desk chair and gives a reading nook a clear center. Slide it beneath a desk and it works as a chair mat with a story on it.
The Design: Spooky Damask Medallion
The linework is crisp and clean, the way a manga cover looks when the ink is still fresh, yet the layout borrows from old ornamental carpets. Mirrored scrolls of lilac and lime curl up both sides of the figure, and every motif repeats left to right, so the medallion feels balanced from whichever side you walk in.
