Product Description
This Studio Ghibli round rug puts San from Princess Mononoke at the center, spear in hand, with the huge white wolf sitting calm and watchful behind her. The artwork is laid out for the circle: the pair anchor the middle, and everything else curls outward in rings of vines, masks and wolf heads.
A circle behaves differently from a rectangle on the floor. It softens the hard corners of a square room, settles under a desk without pointing at any wall, and gives a reading nook a clear center. Under a desk chair it also works as a chair mat that looks like an antique carpet.
The Design: Forest Carpet Pattern
Picture an old Arts and Crafts carpet with a forest story hidden inside it. The ground is deep spruce green, packed with oak leaves, scrolling acanthus, small red berries and cream blossoms. Tiny white kodama peek out from the vines, and strings of white fangs hang between the scrolls like necklaces. San wears her fur cloak and navy skirt, while the wolf's coat glows a warm cream against all that green. Brick red, antique gold and ivory carry the rest.
The border does the storytelling. Four red spirit masks sit at the compass points, wolf heads and chevron-marked spearheads alternate between them, and a beaded band keeps the rings tidy. If this look suits you, there are other Studio Ghibli rugs with very different scenes.
San and the Wolf on the Floor
The cut is a true circle with a soft plush low-pile surface that feels gentle underfoot. The rubber backing is non-slip, so it grips tile, laminate and hardwood instead of wandering. Dye-sublimation printing sets the colors into the fibers, which keeps the greens deep and the wolf's cream fur clean. When it gets dusty, the rug is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dry.
From 140 cm up it reads as a round area rug in its own right. Smaller sizes make a charming accent rug beside a sofa. Choose 80 to 100 cm under a desk chair or beside a bed, where the wolf's face stays easy to see. Step up to 120 to 140 cm for a reading nook or kids' corner, which shows more of the border. Go to 160 to 180 cm when the rug is the center of a seating area, so the four masks frame the furniture.
Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality for daily use. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing.
