Saruman Orthanc Round Rug - Lord of the Rings Chair Mat

Saruman stands in his white robes at the center of this Lord of the Rings round rug, staff planted beside him and the black spires of Orthanc climbing the sky behind his shoulder. The artwork is laid out for the circle, with a framed medallion at the heart and everything else turning around it like a wheel. Two crescent moons hang over the mountains, and the scene sits in ink blue, ivory, forest green and brick red.

A circle changes how a room reads. It softens the corners of a square floor and fills the gap in front of an armchair. Under a desk it works as a chair mat that keeps the wizard in view while your chair glides over the edge.

The Design: Isengard Carpet Medallion

This is Saruman the White as an illuminated carpet would show him, not as a film still. The inner medallion frames him in a scalloped gold-and-red cartouche, his beard and layered robe drawn in pale gray line work against a stormy blue sky. Around it the ornament repeats in eightfold symmetry: green panels holding the White Hand, black crows between curling staffs, glossy dark orbs on little stands, tree stumps with exposed roots, and crescent moons in round blue frames. The outer green band is lined with tiny towers and cogwheels, a reminder that this wizard traded woodland for industry. Saruman on the Floor

The cut is a true circle, and the surface is a soft plush low-pile that feels good underfoot yet stays flat enough for a chair to cross. A non-slip rubber backing grips hardwood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays where you put it. The print is dye-sublimation, which sets the colors into the fibers, so the fine line work in the robe stays sharp. When it needs a refresh, the rug is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dried. Used as a gaming room rug, it gives a desk setup a scholarly, slightly sinister mood.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters run from 80 cm (31.5″) to 180 cm (70.9″). The 80 and 100 cm sizes sit under a desk chair or beside a bed, and they also work as an accent rug next to a bookcase. At 120 and 140 cm the rug suits a reading nook or study corner. The 160 and 180 cm sizes anchor a seating area.

Two levels are available. Standart Level is solid everyday quality. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. Use a gentle cold cycle and air-dry it; the dye-sublimation colors are set into the fibers, so the blue sky and green border keep their depth.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips hardwood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays in place when you sit down at the desk.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet, so the Orthanc medallion can join a living room without changing the floor underneath.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 80 or 100 cm for a desk or bedside, 120 or 140 cm for a reading nook, and 160 or 180 cm to put Saruman at the center of a seating area.

• Lord of the Rings readers who prefer Saruman's cold, scholarly side to the friendlier wizards.
• A study or library corner with dark wood, where the green border and ivory field feel at home.
• A desk setup with Middle-earth touches already in place; pair it with matching Lord of the Rings mouse pads to carry the White Hand onto the tabletop.
• A gift for someone who has reread the books more than twice, especially alongside other picks from the movie and pop culture rug range.
