Eight legs, a cluster of black eyes and a body the size of a hillside: this Shelob MTG playmat puts the spider of Cirith Ungol right on top of the stairs. Sam lies sprawled on the steps below, Sting raised, while far beyond the pass Barad-dûr glows orange through rolling smoke. Nobody is winning this one easily.
Violet and slate rock dominate the mat, so cards in sleeves of almost any color read clearly against it. The fiery tower at the top pulls your gaze first. From there, the spider's legs lead you down like a funnel straight to the small figure at the bottom.
The Art: Violet Pass, Waiting Fangs
Watercolor washes in plum, rose and dusk orange fill the cliffs, while the spider itself is drawn in tight crosshatched ink. That contrast makes her feel heavier than the stone around her. Thin gold lines trace a few rock edges for a subtle shimmer. The stairs climb in a narrow column through the center, and the smoke clouds around the Eye are stacked in tidy contour lines, almost like an engraving. The Return of the King wordmark sits at the bottom center.
Shelob at the Table
At 24 x 14 in (60 x 35 cm), this is standard tournament size. Cards glide and lift easily off the micro-fiber top. A non-slip rubber base keeps the whole thing anchored, so a sudden flourish when you resolve a removal spell will not drag it off the table. Dye-sublimation printing locks the purples into the fabric; they will not crack or fade with use. It belongs to our MTG playmats line, and our flagship Lord of the Rings playmat carries the same theme in another scene. The same world carries over to our Lord of the Rings mouse pads.
With Zones or Without Zones
Our With Zones version gives you an MTG playmat with zones for library, graveyard, exile, command zone and battlefield lanes. The guides are light enough to let the spider show through.
