Walking World Map Round Rug - Tintin Chair Mat

This Tintin round rug puts the young reporter in the middle of an antique world map, a leather bag in one hand and Snowy trotting at his heel. Every motif is laid out for the circle: a cream atlas medallion at the center, eight ornamental panels around it and a ring of globes and compass roses along the edge. Navy, powder blue and sand gold do most of the talking.

A circle behaves differently from a rectangle on the floor. It softens the hard corners of a room and gives a reading chair its own small island. Used as a chair mat under a desk, it lets the seat swivel without catching an edge, and the map stays visible around you.

The Design: Atlas Meets Ornament

Instead of a plain character print, this piece borrows the grammar of an old Persian carpet and fills it with a travel journal. The navy field is dense with curling vine work and tiny gold stars. Cream and powder blue panels hold the clues: a red-and-white checkered rocket at the top and bottom, a steamship cutting through blue water on each side, a propeller plane above palm trees and pyramids, a magnifying glass, a blank notebook and a bone for Snowy. The layout mirrors left to right, so it feels calm rather than busy.

The outer band is where the map idea really shows. Globes alternate with compass roses all the way around, edged by a thin brick-red line. The palette stays disciplined: navy, sky blue, parchment and red, with tan and gold on the continents. Cartoon hero and heirloom carpet, in one round frame.

Tintin on the Floor

The surface is a soft plush low-pile that feels warm underfoot and keeps the fine linework sharp. A non-slip rubber backing grips hard floors, so the rug stays where you put it. When it needs a refresh, it is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dried. The dye-sublimation print sets the colors into the fibers instead of sitting on top, which keeps those deep blues steady wash after wash.

As a bedroom rug, it gives the spot beside the bed a small adventure to step onto each morning. Bigger diameters work as a round area rug in a reading nook or play corner. The smaller ones make a lively accent rug next to a bookcase or a desk.

Sizes & Rug Level

Six diameters are available, from 80 cm (31.5″) to 180 cm (70.9″). Choose 80 or 100 cm under a desk chair or beside a bed, where the central medallion with Tintin and Snowy stays in view. Go to 120 or 140 cm for a reading nook or a kids' corner, so the ship and rocket panels sit on the floor where children play. Pick 160 or 180 cm to make the map the center of a seating area.

Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality. Premium Level adds a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing for heavier traffic.

Quick Questions

Is it machine washable?

Yes. A gentle cold cycle and air-drying keep the map colors crisp.

Does it slip on hard floors?

No. The rubber backing grips wood, tile and laminate, so Tintin stays put even when a chair rolls across the border.

Can I put it over carpet?

Yes, it lies flat over low-pile carpet. The low pile also means the ornate border stays flat and visible rather than sinking into thicker carpet.

Which size should I choose?

Pick 100 cm for a desk or bedside, and 140 cm or more if you want the whole atlas medallion to show around a chair or a pair of armchairs.
