The Art: Mossy Forest Night

Detailed ink linework does a lot of the work here, from the bark grain on the log to the gills under each mushroom cap. Watercolor washes in teal, lilac and moss green fill the shapes, while gold leaf traces clouds, mountain ridges and stars. Hanging moss drips from the branches overhead. Compared with our witch-and-cauldron frog designs, this one swaps spooky for snug, and the warm fire is the only hot color on the whole mat.
