Zapdos grips a lightning-scarred dead tree on a rain-lashed cliff, wings flared and crest bristling, as bolts of white and gold lightning split the violet storm clouds around it. This Pokemon poster renders the Electric Pokémon in Japanese ink-and-watercolor style on aged paper, with slanting rain lines, wet slate rocks, a red title cartouche and seal stamps, and it is printed to order. Its golden feathers are tipped in deep blue.
Wild and electric, this piece captures a legend at the heart of the storm. Violet, gold and slate make it dramatic gaming room decor that stands out on dark walls. Kanto fans will remember finding Zapdos at the Power Plant.
The Artwork: Thunder on the Cliff
Storm clouds roll across the sky in heavy violet washes, with diagonal rain lines borrowed from classic Japanese storm prints. Lightning forks are painted in glowing white with gold edges, crackling down the tree trunk. Zapdos's feathers are built from layered gold and ochre strokes, each wingtip tipped in rich blue. The cliff below is drawn in dark ink with wet, glossy highlights. Within this ink-wash series it is the most electric bird portrait and the stormiest sky.
