Hermione stands at the heart of this Harry Potter round rug, wand raised with a tiny spark glowing at the tip, a stack of books hugged against her robes and a red-and-gold scarf swinging past her shoulder. The artwork is laid out for the circle: a cream medallion holds her, and rings of silver otters, hourglasses and blue-flame lanterns spin out toward a plum border of quills and open books.
A circle behaves differently on the floor than a rectangle does. It softens the hard corners of a square study, settles into a reading nook and sits beside a bed where bare feet land first. With the figure at dead center, it reads well from every doorway.
The Design: Scarlet, Gold and Ink
Think illuminated manuscript meets storybook watercolor.
