A scarlet steam engine charges straight down the track, a stone viaduct curving behind it and a turreted castle waiting on a far crag. This Harry Potter round rug lays the whole journey out for the circle, with the locomotive in a scalloped medallion at the center and everything else orbiting it in a navy and burgundy frame. Gold filigree ties it together.
Floors are mostly rectangles, and a circle breaks that up. It softens the corners of a square room, gives a desk chair space to swivel without catching an edge, and marks out a reading nook as its own small world. Because the artwork is mirrored around the middle, it looks right from every side of the room.
The Design: Journey in Gold Filigree
Think of an antique carpet medallion where the medallion is a railway journey. Pale sky, snow-dusted peaks, dark pines and a river valley sit inside the center oval, and the red-and-black locomotive fills it with brass lamps glowing along the front. Plumes of cream steam curl out past the frame and repeat around the border like clouds.
The deep navy field around it is full of small treasures. Four chocolate frogs rest on purple star cushions, golden pasties sit beside blank cream tickets, and spoked crimson wheels mark the compass points. At the top and bottom, a stone archway shelters a luggage cart stacked with leather trunks and a white owl in a brass cage. Short stretches of track and gold stars fill the gaps.
