Product Description
This Harry Potter round rug puts Hogwarts in the middle of the floor: a lit castle on a rocky crag, a full moon above it, and a still black lake with little lantern boats drifting across. The artwork is laid out for the circle, so a gilded cartouche frames the scene and everything else radiates outward in rings. Navy, antique gold, burgundy.
A circle does something a rectangle cannot. It softens the hard corners of a room and gives a desk, a window seat or a bedside a clear center. Under a desk chair it doubles as a chair mat, and the castle stays in view because the medallion sits right in the middle.
The Design: Moonlit Castle, Gilded Frame
Everything here is built on deep midnight blue, and the gold work does the talking. The central scene sits inside a scalloped, gold-edged frame, with the towers glowing warm yellow against a star-flecked sky. Around it, trailing gold vines carry the contents of a young wizard's study: four white owls in flight, spellbooks in red, teal and green, corked potion bottles, black cauldrons, wands laid on the diagonal, winged keys and letters with burgundy wax seals. Two smaller medallions, top and bottom, show the scarlet steam train crossing a stone viaduct. Candles burn everywhere in between. The rug is cut in a true circle with a soft plush low-pile surface that feels good under bare feet and lies flat under a chair. A non-slip rubber backing grips hard floors such as wood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays where you put it.
