Product Description
Two katanas cross over a hand-brushed ink circle at the center of this Vagabond round rug, the blades catching a thin line of silver against warm parchment. Everything around them is laid out for the circle: eight lobed cartouches radiate outward, and a black-and-gold border closes the whole composition like a lacquered frame.
A round shape suits a piece this symmetrical. It softens the hard corners of a square room, sits neatly under a desk chair, and gives a reading corner a focal point you can see from the doorway.
The Design: Ink, Steel and Gold
The palette is restrained and deliberate: aged cream, deep ink black, antique gold and a single note of bamboo green. The concept borrows the ornate border logic of a Persian carpet but fills it with the quiet vocabulary of the manga. Inside each cartouche you will find a bamboo stalk, a windswept pine branch, a mountain under a black sun, a crescent moon, an ink stone or a calligraphy brush. Small crossed swords repeat in the corners, and tiny ensō circles ring the outer edge. Nothing is loud. The detail rewards a second look, much like the brushwork in Inoue's pages. Katana on the Floor
The cut is a clean circle, and the surface is a soft plush low-pile that feels pleasant underfoot without catching a chair's wheels. A non-slip rubber backing grips hard floors such as wood, tile and laminate, so the rug stays where you put it. The rug is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dried. Colors are applied by dye-sublimation, which sets the ink-black and gold into the fibers instead of sitting on top. Because the medallion is so centered, it looks best where the whole circle can be seen: a study, a bedroom or a quiet corner of the living room.
Sizes & Rug Level
Six diameters are available, from 80 cm (31.5″) up to 180 cm (70.9″). Choose 80 or 100 cm under a desk chair or beside a bed, where the crossed blades stay visible around the chair legs. At 120 or 140 cm the ensō and the cartouches read clearly in a reading nook or a hobby corner. Go to 160 or 180 cm when you want the rug to anchor a seating area, with the border framing the furniture.
Two levels are offered. Standart Level is solid everyday quality for regular use. Premium Level has a thicker, plusher pile and a more durable backing for heavier traffic.
