This Naruto round rug maps the Hidden Leaf Village across the whole circle, with the Hokage cliff watching over red-roofed streets, a winding river and a walled gate at the bottom. The artwork is laid out for the circle: a scalloped center panel sits inside rings of ornate scrollwork, so there is no wrong way to turn it. Crimson, forest green, cream and gold carry the whole palette.
A circle behaves differently from a rectangle on the floor. It softens the hard corners of a square room, gives a desk chair a clear place to sit and fills a reading nook without crowding the walls. This one is built to be looked at from every side, which suits a rug that people walk around.
The Design: A Village Carpet Map
Think of an heirloom carpet that someone redrew as a map of Konoha. At the center, the five carved faces of the Hokage monument look over the village from a sandstone cliff, and below them the rooftops, the round red tower, a river bend and the forest wall fill the panel. Around that scene, the border borrows the look of a classic Persian medallion, but every motif belongs to the ninja world. The leaf spiral appears in the cardinal points and again along the outer ring, while ramen bowls, paper lanterns, scrolls, training posts, kunai and shuriken sit in their own small cartouches between curling vines and cream blossoms.
Most Naruto art goes for action and faces. This piece goes for place instead, and it rewards a slow look. If you like seeing the village rather than a single fighter, more Naruto round rugs take other angles on the same world.

The 120 and 140 cm sizes suit a reading nook or a kids' corner, where the village map can be seen whole.
