A yellow RX-7 slides through a mountain bend at night, tire smoke curling off the rear wheel while a pale moon hangs over the ridge. This Initial D round rug sets that scene inside a scalloped medallion and lays the whole composition out for the circle, so the car, the road and the border all sit where they belong.
Round shapes behave differently from rectangles. They soften the corners of a bedroom or den and give the eye a single center to land on, which suits a design built around one hero shot. Slide it under a desk and it serves as a chair mat with a touge pass beneath your feet.
The Design: Touge Meets Filigree
The artwork borrows its layout from an old Persian carpet and fills it with racing. Cream ground, antique gold scrollwork, and a deep navy border checkered with black-and-white squares and little triangular rotor emblems. Around the center, roundels hold steering wheels, rear wings and S-curved mountain roads, while checkered flags and lightning bolts fill the gaps between them.
