Product Description
This Akira round rug follows Kaneda on foot, seen from behind in his red jacket as he walks toward his parked bike beneath a neon-blue Neo-Tokyo skyline. The artwork is laid out for the circle, with the scene in a gold-framed center and the ornament spinning out around it like a carpet medallion.
A circle softens a square room. Under a desk chair it works as a chair mat with no corners to catch, and beside a bed it gives your feet a landing spot in navy and crimson.
The Design: Neo-Tokyo Carpet Medallion
The artist borrowed the look of an ornate Persian carpet and filled it with Akira icons. Four red capsule jackets mark the compass points, red bikes rest in oval cartouches on the diagonals, and helmets and gear fill the gaps between them. A border of capsules and gold star-flowers closes the circle. The palette stays tight: deep navy, crimson, antique gold and cold cyan. Quiet walk, loud colors. Underfoot, the soft plush low-pile surface feels good, and the non-slip rubber backing grips hard floors. It is machine washable on a gentle cold cycle, then air-dried.
