The Gundam collection includes several distinct, original motifs. Every Gundam rug is made with our in-house sublimation printing and fade-resistant colors, so each design stays vivid and sharp for the long run.
Yes – your Gundam rugs are fully machine washable. Just run them on a gentle, low-temperature cycle; the material is quick-drying and keeps its shape and color. That makes them genuinely easy to keep clean day to day.
The Gundam rugs are available in several sizes, from small accent pieces all the way up to XXL for large rooms. You'll find exact measurements in ft and cm in the size table further up on this page.
Yes. Every Gundam rug has a slip-resistant backing and sits securely on hard floors like hardwood, laminate, or tile. The edges are finished with overlock stitching, so the rug won't fray over time.
Absolutely. Gundam rugs are durable and low-maintenance, making them ideal for high-use areas like kids' rooms, gaming corners, or a desk setup. They hold up to heavy use and wash easily whenever you need.
Vacuum your Gundam rug regularly and, when needed, wash it on a gentle low-temperature cycle, then dry it flat. Blot spills right away instead of rubbing. Learn more about our washable rugs in the main collection.
Gundam Rugs
A Gundam rug gives your floor the scale of a mobile suit hangar, with original artwork that spans several eras of the mecha saga: the RX-78-2 drawing its beam saber, Char's red Zaku II, the Nu Gundam deploying its fin funnels, the Sazabi in Neo Zeon red, Wing Zero spreading its wings and Barbatos Lupus Rex in a savage tapestry style. Every rug is made to order. Rectangular designs come in five sizes from 2 x 3 ft to 5 x 7 ft, while the shaped rugs are cut to the outline of the artwork in four sizes. You can choose a Standard velvet surface or a thicker Premium plush, and both are finished with a non-slip backing.
The collection is small and focused, with nine designs in total, so it is easy to find the suit that matches your favorite series or the model kit sitting on your shelf. Below you will find every design, a full size guide that explains how the shaped rugs are measured, the difference between the two quality levels, room ideas and the practical details on printing, care, shipping and returns.
Gundam Rug Designs in the Collection
Six designs are classic rectangles that read like a framed poster or tapestry on the floor, and three are shaped rugs that follow the silhouette of the artwork. Here they are, grouped by series and theme.
RX-78-2 Gundam Rugs
The original Gundam from the 1979 series gets three designs of its own. The RX-78-2 Gundam Beam Saber Rug is a rectangular piece that shows the white, blue and red suit with its beam saber drawn, a natural centerpiece for any room built around a love of mecha. The other two are shaped rugs. The V-Fin RX-78-2 Rug takes its name from the golden V-fin antenna on the suit's head, and the Sensor RX-78-2 Rug from the sensors that give the Gundam its unmistakable face. Because the edge follows the artwork, both look like a giant decal laid on the floor rather than a mat with a picture printed on it.
Universal Century Rivals: Char, Sazabi and Nu Gundam
No Gundam collection is complete without the Red Comet. The Char's Zaku II Red Comet Rug celebrates Char Aznable's custom red Zaku from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, a design that instantly signals which side of the One Year War you sympathize with. Char's later machine appears in the Sazabi Neo Zeon Commander Rug, a bold red portrait of the Neo Zeon flagship suit.
Facing it is the Nu Gundam Fin Funnel Space Rug from Char's Counterattack, which places Amuro's final Gundam against the backdrop of space with its fin funnels spread around it. If you have the floor space, the Sazabi and Nu Gundam rugs make a fitting pair, one on each side of the room, just as the two suits face off in the film.
Beyond the Universal Century: Wing Zero and Barbatos
Two designs come from alternate timelines. The Wing Zero Celestial Tapestry Rug from Gundam Wing shows the angel-winged suit in a heavenly, tapestry-style composition that looks almost like a church window. The Barbatos Lupus Rex Savage Tapestry Rug from Iron-Blooded Orphans takes the opposite approach, presenting Mikazuki's feral, clawed final form in a darker and more aggressive tapestry design. Both have the detailed, decorative look that lets them work as wall-art-style pieces on the floor.
A Playful Shaped Mecha Design
The third shaped rug is the lightest design in the collection: a cute cartoon cat character dressed in full mobile suit armor, cut to the outline of the artwork. It is a fun crossover-style piece for a kids' room, a bedroom or a mixed anime corner, and it brings a softer, sweeter mood to an otherwise serious lineup of war machines.
Gundam Rug Sizes
Size options depend on the shape of the design. The six rectangular rugs share five standard sizes, and the three shaped rugs each come in four sizes scaled to their outline.
| Size (ft) | Size (cm) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 x 3 ft | 60 x 90 cm | Bedside, doorways, a small hobby desk |
| 2.6 x 3.9 ft | 80 x 120 cm | Desk or gaming chair mat, model-building station |
| 3.3 x 5 ft | 100 x 150 cm | Bedrooms, kids' rooms, in front of a sofa |
| 4 x 6 ft | 120 x 180 cm | Game rooms, dorms, beside a double bed |
| 5 x 7 ft | 150 x 214 cm | Living rooms, the main rug in an anime room |
Shaped rugs: the two shaped RX-78-2 rugs and the mecha cat design are cut along the outline of the artwork and come in four sizes. Their exact dimensions depend on the design, because some outlines are close to square and others are a little taller than they are wide. Across the three shaped designs, sizes run from about 80 x 80 cm (2.6 x 2.6 ft) up to 160 x 180 cm (5.2 x 5.9 ft), and the precise measurements for each are listed on its product page.
For any area rug, leave about 18 to 24 inches of floor visible around the edges so the room does not feel crowded. Under a desk chair, choose a rectangular rug that keeps every wheel on the surface when you roll back, which usually means 2.6 x 3.9 ft or larger. Shaped rugs are best used as accent pieces beside a bed or in an open floor area rather than under a rolling chair.
Standard vs Premium: Selecting Your Rug Quality
Each Gundam rug is available in two quality levels. The printing is the same and both have a non-slip backing; the difference lies in thickness, softness and backing material.
- Standard Level: a lightweight 5 mm rug with a shiny velvet surface that brings out panel lines, color blocking and the fine mechanical detail of each suit. It has a faux leather non-slip backing and is the recommended choice under a desk chair, since the wheels roll smoothly across it.
- Premium Level: a softer, cushioned 7 mm rug with a plush surface and a natural cotton anti-slip backing. It is the better fit for bedrooms, living rooms and kids' rooms, where you walk barefoot or sit on the floor.
Anime Rug Ideas for Every Room
Model-Building Desk and Gaming Setup
If you build Gunpla, a Standard rug in 2.6 x 3.9 ft under your desk chair protects the floor from caster marks during long build sessions, and a quick shake or low vacuum clears away plastic shavings and sprue offcuts. The RX-78-2 Beam Saber and Nu Gundam designs suit a desk that doubles as a gaming station. Our Gundam mouse pads match the desk to the floor, turning the build station into one hangar bay.
Bedroom and Kids' Room
A 3.3 x 5 ft Premium rug next to the bed is a comfortable first step out of bed. For younger fans, the shaped mecha cat or the V-Fin head rug add personality, and our non-toxic, skin-safe inks make the rugs suitable for nurseries and playrooms too.
Living Room and Anime Corner
The tapestry designs, especially Wing Zero and Barbatos Lupus Rex, have an ornate look that works in a living room without feeling like merchandise. As an anime rug in a 5 x 7 ft size, either one can anchor a seating area or a shelf wall full of model kits. For sizing a seating area, compare them with our living room rugs.
Dorm Room
Rugs ship folded and are light, so they travel easily to and from campus. A 4 x 6 ft rectangular design covers most dorm floors, while a shaped rug adds a fun accent beside a bed.
Printing, Durability and Safety
We print every rug with HD sublimation, which bonds the ink into the fibers rather than leaving it on the surface, so the design does not crack or peel. The inks are UV-resistant for regular daylight, though you should still avoid long hours of direct sun. Reinforced stitched edges help prevent fraying and curling. The non-slip backing grips hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, concrete and low-pile carpet, and all inks are non-toxic and skin-safe. The rugs are made for indoor use only.
Caring for Your Gundam Rug
- Vacuum on a low setting or shake the rug out to lift dust and debris.
- Blot spills promptly with a damp cloth and avoid rubbing.
- For a thorough clean, hand wash with cold water and mild detergent and let it air dry flat.
- Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals and tumble drying, and do not iron the printed surface.
- Rotate the rug from time to time to keep wear even.
Rugs are shipped folded, so you may see creases when you unpack yours. Lay it flat and they relax within a few days.
Shipping and Returns
All rugs are made to order. Most orders are produced within 1 to 3 business days and delivered in 5 to 12 days depending on your location, and tracking is sent by email. Because each rug is printed for your specific order, we accept returns within 14 days for shipping damage or a defect, but not for a change of mind.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these official Gundam rugs?
No. These are original fan-inspired designs created by Padloom and printed on our own rugs, with no connection to the studio behind the series.
How big are the shaped Gundam rugs?
Each shaped rug comes in four sizes, ranging from about 80 x 80 cm up to 160 x 180 cm across the three designs. Because the outlines differ, check the product page for the exact dimensions of the design you like.
Which Gundam rug works under a desk chair?
Pick one of the rectangular designs in the Standard Level, 2.6 x 3.9 ft or larger. The velvet surface lets chair wheels roll easily and the faux leather backing keeps the rug in position.
How do I wash the rug?
Hand wash only. Blot small spills with a damp cloth, and when the whole rug needs it, hand wash in cold water with mild detergent and air dry it flat.
Will the rug slip on a wooden floor?
No. Both quality levels have an anti-slip backing that holds on hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl and low-pile carpet.
