Ayanami Rei Mouse Pads

A Rei Ayanami mouse pad puts the quiet pilot of Evangelion Unit-00 right where your hands spend the day, with nine original fan-inspired designs inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion. Seven of them center on Rei herself, from moody portraits to designs built around her Evangelion, and two widen the frame to the series as a whole. Every mat is made to order, so you pick the size that fits your setup, from a small mouse pad for a laptop bag to a full desk mat, with chair mats in the same artwork as well.

The build is the same at every size: a smooth woven cloth top, stitched edges that resist fraying and a non-slip natural rubber base that keeps the mat where you put it. If you are looking for an Evangelion mouse pad with a calmer, more atmospheric feel than the usual battle scenes, Rei's pale blue and white palette is a natural fit. Below you will find each design, a size guide, surface details, care tips and answers to common questions.

Rei Ayanami Mouse Pad Designs in the Collection

Rei is one of the most recognizable characters in anime: the reserved First Child, pilot of the prototype Unit-00, whose short blue hair, red eyes and few words hide some of the biggest questions in the whole series. The nine designs here approach her in different ways, so we have grouped them into four themes to make comparing them easier.

Rei and Evangelion Unit-00

Two designs pair Rei with the machine she pilots. The EVA Unit 00 design brings together the pilot and the prototype Evangelion, a fitting choice for fans who remember Unit-00 as the first of the giant units to appear in the story. The EVA Unit 00 Black design is a separate artwork with a darker color scheme, which suits a black keyboard, a dark desk or a setup that runs mostly on monitor light.

If you are deciding between them, think about the rest of your desk. The black version tends to blend into a darker gaming setup, while the standard version works well when you want the artwork to stand out against a lighter desk or wall.

Moonlight and Rainfall: Quiet, Atmospheric Portraits

Some of the most memorable moments in Evangelion are its silent ones, and two designs lean into that mood. The Moonlight design is built around soft moonlight, a nighttime mood that matches her calm, distant personality. The Rainfall design takes a similar approach with falling rain, an atmospheric choice for anyone who loves the slower, reflective side of the series as much as the fights.

Both make good picks for a work desk, where you want artwork that is easy on the eyes during long hours. On an XL or XXL mat, a portrait has room to breathe instead of disappearing under your keyboard.

Abstract Aura, Cyber Core and Clone Line

Three designs take a more stylized direction. The Abstract Aura design surrounds Rei with an abstract aura, closer to a piece of graphic art than a scene from the show. The Cyber Core design leans into a sci-fi, technological look that fits the world of NERV, its control rooms and its endless screens of data.

The Clone Line design nods to one of the central mysteries of the story, the question of who and what Rei really is. Fans who have followed the series to its end will understand the reference immediately, while for everyone else it simply works as a striking piece of artwork. Of the three, it is the one that rewards a long mat, where the artwork can stretch across the full width of your desk.

Wider Evangelion Scenes

Two designs in this collection are about the series as a whole rather than Rei alone. The Evangelion Impact Scene design draws on the apocalyptic Impact events that shape the story's world, a dramatic choice for a gaming desk. The Evangelion Final Crew design is a group piece in the spirit of the show's ensemble cast, so it works well if you love Rei but also want more of the series on your desk than a single character. If these two whet your appetite, our Neon Genesis Evangelion mouse pads offer a much larger selection from the series as a whole.

Rei Ayanami Mouse Pad Sizes

All nine designs are available in the same sizes. Each one is listed in inches and centimeters below.

A quick way to match a size to your desk:

• Mouse only or travel: S is small enough to slide into a backpack next to your laptop.
• Mouse with a small keyboard: M or L. Both are long and narrow, and L gives your mouse a bit more space to move.
• Full keyboard and mouse: XL or XXL. Choose XXL if your desk is deep or you like to slide the keyboard back.
• Whole-desk coverage: XXXL or XXXXL turn a portrait like Moonlight or Rainfall into a full desktop scene.
• Card games: the TCG Mat at 14 x 24 in is sized as a play mat for a card game.
• Under a desk chair: chair mats in 80 x 120, 100 x 150 and 120 x 180 cm protect hard floors under a rolling chair.

To be sure, measure the width and depth of your desk before ordering and leave a margin of a few centimeters, so the mat lies flat without running over the edge.

Surface and Build

• Surface: micro-woven polyester cloth, smooth and optimized for all DPI and sensitivity settings; works with laser and optical mice.
• Base: 3 mm natural rubber, a non-slip textured grip that stays in place.
• Edges: precision-stitched, anti-fray borders.
• Print: high-definition, fade-resistant print.

What does that mean at your desk? If you play fast shooters at low DPI, you move the mouse in long arcs, and a smooth cloth top gives you the same glide on every flick. In MMOs, strategy games or rhythm games played at higher DPI, the movements are small and precise, and an even surface helps the sensor read every millimeter cleanly. Away from games, the same cloth makes everyday tasks like editing, browsing and sorting through spreadsheets feel smooth, and the rubber base means the mat stays put when you lean on it. The stitched border also keeps your wrist from catching on a rough edge over a long day.

Desk Setup Ideas for Evangelion Fans

A NERV-Style Gaming Station

Dark designs such as EVA Unit 00 Black or Cyber Core suit a gaming desk lit mostly by monitors. Add a monitor light bar, keep the cables tidy and use an XXL size so the whole keyboard and mouse area sits on one surface, like a command console of your own.

A Calm Desk for Study or Work

Moonlight, Rainfall and Abstract Aura are quieter designs that stay pleasant to look at through a full day of classes or meetings. In a dorm room or a small home office, an L or XL mat covers the work area without taking over the desk.

A Streaming or Gift Setup

If your desk appears on camera, a long mat with Rei's pale palette reads clearly in the background of a stream. The designs also make an easy gift for a friend who has watched the series more than once; when you are unsure of their desk, XL is a safe size. Friends who love giant robots in general may also enjoy our Gundam mouse pads, which bring more mecha artwork to the desk.

Caring for Your Mouse Pad

• Wipe spots with a damp cloth.
• For a full clean, the mat can be washed, including on a gentle machine cycle in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent.
• Air dry it flat.
• No bleach, no tumble dryer, and do not iron the print.
